IPL 2020 has unearthed some fine talents for Team India. The season has seen opener KL Rahul scoring runs in abundance while Mayank Agarwal proved to be more than a Test player. Wriddhiman Saha displayed his brilliance in the shortest format and the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Varun Chakravarthy.
Former India cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra discussed about the biggest gains for the national team from the IPL 2020. It included the likes of KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal and Jasprit Bumrah. But among them the name of Chakravarthy stood out.
Best gain for Team India I will say is Varun Chakravarthy: Aakash Chopra
Chopra said that the best gain for Team India has been Chakravarthy. He said that it is as mystery spinners are not easily available and most of them have problems with their actions or consistency. He also added that Chakravarthy dismissed MS Dhoni twice and is fast in the air and bowls at the right spot which makes him special.
“But the best gain for Team India I will say is Varun Chakravarthy. Mystery spinners are not available easily and most of them have problems with their actions. If not the action, they get problems of consistency. But this player bowled the entire season and no one deciphered him,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube video.
“He dismissed Dhoni twice. He is fast in the air and bowls at the right spot and even bowled with the wet ball. He turns the ball a little and is not scared of any pressure situation. He is the only bowler to take a 5-wicket haul in the whole league phase.”
Chakravarthy impressed one and all to break into the India T20 squad for Australia tour. Chakravarthy, who was bought for a big sum ahead of the previous edition of the IPL, is proving his worth with some brilliant performances in the IPL 2020.
Chakravarthy became the first bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in IPL 2020. His performance continues to help KKR in the tournament. He has earned his place in the squad ahead of premier India spinner Kuldeep Yadav and Australia’s Chris Green.
