Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni had another failure with the bat, this time against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The current season has been dismal for him with the bat and it compounded on Sunday after he was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy.

Dhoni was needed to take his side home as they crumbled under the scoreboard pressure. The track at Abu Dhabi is on the slower side as has been the case in most of the matches in the second leg. However, he faltered after failing to read a wrong un from Chakravarthy.

Just a few balls earlier, Suresh Raina was run out and the pressure was building. Chakravarthy had bowled a brilliant over and he topped it off with the wicket of Dhoni. He bowled a googly which the 40-year-old misread and the ball crashed through the stumps.

The wicket put CSK in a tough situation at 142/6, still needed 30 runs to claim the win. Their hopes are completely pinned on Ravindra Jadeja at the other end and England all-rounder Sam Curran.

Earlier, KKR did well to put up a total of 171 on the board. They lost wickets at regular intervals in the first half of their innings. None of the batsmen put up a substantial score but there were plenty of cameos. The one from Dinesh Karthik was the important one of them all.

He played a stroke-filled 26 off 11 balls that pushed the total past the 170-run mark. Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood picked up two wickets each and put the brakes in the middle overs phase. As for KKR, Rahul Tripathi high-scored with 45 while Nitish Rana chipped in with 37 at the end.
