Indian batsman Hanuma Vihari grabbed a wonderful diving catch off veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s delivery to dismiss Sri Lanka batsman Dhananjaya de Silva in the last innings of the Bengaluru Test on Monday.
The 30-year-old Dhananjaya de Silva failed to perform well in both the innings of the pink-ball Test match against India. In the first innings of the match he scored just 10 runs off 24 balls and in the second innings he was able to score just 4 runs off 21 balls before getting out in the Ravichandran Ashwin’s over.

On the 5th ball of the 28th over Ashwin stayed round the wicket and tossed up the ball around off. Sri Lanka batsman De Silva came forward to defend it but he ended up defending with bat away from the body and the ball took the inside edge. The ball lobbed off the front pad and Vihari, who was at short leg, dived to his left, with both hands to complete the catch.
Also, with the wicket, Ravichandran Ashwin went past legendary pacer Dale Steyn to become the 8th highest wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket.
Sri Lanka Off To A Positive Start On Day 3
Sri Lanka National Cricket Team were off to a refreshingly positive start on Day 3 of the pink-ball Test match against India.
Chasing a huge target Lahiru Kumara was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the first over itself and at stumps on Day 2, Sri Lanka were 28/1 in 7.0 overs.
However, on Day 3, captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis batted brilliantly against the Indian bowling unit as they added 97 runs off 115 balls before the latter was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin. He smashed 54 runs off 60 balls, including 8 fours.
