The internet was taken by storm when a video ad of former India captain, Rahul Dravid getting angry, screaming, fighting, breaking car mirror, and yelling “Indiranagar ka gunda hoon main” was released.

The fans were left shocked, gasping in disbelief, and then laughing at watching this side – and the acting skills – of Rahul Dravid in an advertisement for Cred, an Indian credit card bill payments app.

Now former India and Karnataka bowler, Dodda Ganesh has posted a 20-year old video of Rahul Dravid, who rarely loses his cool, getting angry, shouting, and animated in real life. The video is of the 1997/98 Ranji Trophy semi-final against Hyderabad at the Gymkhana Ground, Secunderabad.

Karnataka, led by Rahul Dravid, was chasing a target of 154 runs to seal a place in the final against the winners of the first semi-final, Uttar Pradesh. The match which looked in Karnataka’s grasp when their openers, S Somasunder and J Arunkumar, added 44 runs then turned into a cliffhanger as the side collapsed to 138/9.

The last pair, bowlers Mansur Ali Khan and Dodda Ganesh, crawled the side over the line and frenzied scenes ensued in the dressing room where the rest of the Karnataka team was there. A young Rahul Dravid can be seen gesturing and at his very expressive best towards the batting pair in the middle.

“This is reel. Guys, watch the real one. Dravid shouting at the top of his voice Courtesy : MAK and Dodda Ganesh. The 1997/98 Sfs vs HYD,” Dodda Ganesh posted the video.

India captain, Virat Kohli was left surprised by the Cred’s video of the 48-year-old fighting and shouting. Kohli, who has spent a significant amount of time with Dravid during his early years in the Indian team, couldn’t believe that someone so calm, so composed as Dravid can get this much angry, albeit acting in a commercial.

“Never seen this side of Rahul bhai,” Kohli wrote.

Speaking of Virat Kohli, he led Royal Challengers Bangalore to victory against Mumbai Indians on Friday in the IPL 2021 season opener in Chennai. RCB chased down the target of 160 on the last ball with the help of a swashbuckling knock from AB de Villiers after Harshal Patel had rocked Mumbai with a five-wicket haul.
