Indian head coach Rahul Dravid was happy with the performance of India in the field during last night’s third T20I against New Zealand. There was one particular moment when Dravid showed his appreciation for the work that fielding coach, T Dilip, had put in with the Men in Blue.

In the fourteenth over of New Zealand’s run chase, Ishan Kishan produced a moment of magic in the field. Kiwis’ stand-in captain, Mitchell Santner, tucked a ball onto the leg-side and immediately called for a double.

However, he failed to anticipate the speed at which Kishan would run in and fire a throw. Santner was caught well short of his crease despite a full-length dive as Kishan nailed the stumps from deep mid-wicket.

The incident triggered a happy reaction in the Indian dugout, particularly from Dravid who was seen grinning from ear to ear and patting the back of Dilip. The run-out also ended any hopes that the Kiwis had in chasing down the target.

India defeated the jaded New Zealand side by a whopping 73 runs in the final encounter at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. The series was already decided with India having won comfortably in Jaipur and Ranchi.

However, that didn’t deter Rohit Sharma who continued his rich vein of form. He scored his 30th fifty and in the process, became the batsman with the most fifties in T20I cricket, overtaking Virat Kohli’s 29.

The target of 185 posed in front of the Kiwis was a steep mountain to climb and the visitors succumbed rather easily, folding up for 111 to hand India a clean 3-0 sweep of the T20I series. The two teams will now move on to play the 2-match Test series beginning on November 25.
