Leg-spin sensation Rashid Khan has dealt a body blow to the Royal Challengers Bangalore as he sent their ace batsman AB de Villiers packing for a 5-ball 1.
AB de Villiers’ wicket has come at a time when the Royal Challengers were looking to rebuild after having lost their captain Virat Kohli for a 29-ball 33.
After Kohli got dismissed by his nemesis Jason Holder, SunRisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner made a brilliant tactical punt by introducing his trump card in Rashid Khan.
And Khan, as he almost always does, took just four deliveries to repay the faith that his captain has shown in him.
It all happened on the fourth ball of the 14th ball when AB de Villiers, in an attempt to slap a short ball outside off-stump past the cover region, ended up hitting it straight to the SRH skipper David Warner at short-cover.
And, the expression on Warner’s face after he claimed the wicket, summed up the importance of the wicket.
Since then, Rashid Khan has chipped in with another wicket in the form of Washington Sundar thanks to a brilliant diving catch by Manish Pandey at long-off. The superstar leg-spinner has finished another brilliant spell in which he has given 18 runs in 4 overs besides taking two wickets.
At the time of writing, RCB were reeling at 5/106 after 16 overs and the onus now is on Glenn Maxwell (33* off 28 balls) to take his team to a defendable total.
