But Morgan couldn’t get the connection that he would have liked and Steve Smith, who covered a lot of ground, completed a brilliant catch in the outfield.

Morgan, who had scored an unbeaten 47 in the last game against Punjab Kings, has had a torrid time in the 14th season of the IPL thus far.

Morgan’s fortunes have mirrored the fortunes of Kolkata Knight Riders in what has been a pretty forgettable campaign for the two-time champions thus far.

In seven games thus far, Eoin Morgan has managed just 92 runs at an average of 15.33 and a strike rate of 112.20.

Coming back to the game, Kolkata Knight Riders have endured another collapse post the dismissal of Eoin Morgan.

The experiment of Sunil Narine at the No.5 spot once again backfired as the off-spinner got knocked over by a brilliant delivery by Lalit Yadav, who got it to turn a bit at the last moment.

At the time of writing, KKR had lost their 5th wicket for 82 with Shubman Gill holing out on a slow delivery by Avesh Khan.
