Delhi Capitals captain and keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was lucky enough to survive an LBW shout as a review saved him in the ongoing match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad. The umpire showed Rishabh Pant the way in the seventh over delivered by Washington Sundar. With Pant using the review and enjoying success to deny the opposition the third wicket, RCB captain Virat Kohli expressed his shock as the call was overturned.
Washington Sundar, who came for his first over and bowled round the wicket, seemed to have delivered for the Royal Challengers a vital breakthrough. Pant, who went for the sweep shot way through early, was struck on the front and the umpire had no hesitation raising the finger. Pant took the DRS and replays indicated that he got an inside edge on it. With the decision overturning, Kohli could not contain his shock.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first. Royal Challengers Bangalore keeper-batsman AB de Villiers struck an unbeaten 71 to carry his side to 171 in 20 overs. There were also crucial contributions from Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar for the cause. Pant used six bowlers, of which five bowlers in Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, and Axar Patel snared a wicket each.
