Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: MS Dhoni's Advice Worked - Shahbaz Nadeem

Jharkand’s left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, who recently claimed a record eight-wicket haul against Rajasthan, eventually thanked former Team India skipper MS Dhoni for advising him on field placements. However, he bagged impressive figures after conceding just ten runs against Rajasthan at Chennai. He achieved the feat in the ongoing edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018.

Nadeem’s fantastic 10-4-10-8 spell helped his team to beat Ashok Menaria-led Rajasthan by seven wickets in the Elite Group ‘C’. He broke the record of Delhi left-arm spinner Rahul Sanghvi’s eight for 15. He achieved this success against Himachal Pradesh in 1997-98.

Moreover, Nadeem was there with the Team India as a practice bowler recently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He had some excellent time with the camp and admitted that he got some valuable tips from the experienced Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Nadeem thanked Dhoni for assuring him that he was bowling well. Dhoni gave him the tips to take care of field placements while bowling to a different batsman.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni also helped him by informing about the field placements to create some additional pressure on the opposition.

“Mahi bhai assured me I was bowling well, but I needed to take care of the field placements. He guided me in setting fields for different batsmen, who try particular shots frequently. To create additional pressure on the batsmen, he suggested specific field placements,” Nadeem told mid-day.

However, Nadeem shared his thoughts by stating that he has bowled these India batsmen in the Twenty20 matches.

Moreover, it was something different experience for him to bowl the teammates and Dhoni in the nets.

“Though I have bowled to all these India batsmen in the T20, bowling to them at the India nets was totally a new experience for me. I asked them how I bowled or which delivery of mine did they struggle to pick, so you get the first-hand acknowledgement. You get a fair idea whether you are on the right track. So, bowling to the Indian team is a morale-booster,” Nadeem added.

In the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018, Shahbaz Nadeem has a major role to play for his state team Jharkhand. On the other hand, MS Dhoni is representing Team India in the ongoing competition of the Asia Cup 2018.
