In what can only be called an extreme reaction of a cricket fan, an ardent Virat Kohli fan murdered his own friend, who supported Rohit Sharma for making fun of the former India captain and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the franchise for which Virat Kohli plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are both the pillars of the Indian batting lineup for the past decade or so. Both have envious records and Virat Kohli is called as a modern-era legend, while Rohit Sharma is certified and widely accepted as one of the greatest of all time in white ball cricket. Together both have built a brilliant platform for Indian team youngsters to follow on their path to greatness.

However, their fortunes have differed when it comes to the Indian Premier League (IPL). While Rohit Sharma is a six-time IPL winner, once with Deccan Chargers and five times with the Mumbai Indians, all of them with MI coming as their captain including back-to-back victories in 2019 and 2020.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has not been able to lift the IPL trophy despite playing in the finals three times and once as captain in 2016. He stepped down as RCB captain after IPL 2021, but Rohit Sharma is expected to continue captaining the MI team in IPL 2023 as well.

RCB And Virat Kohli Fan Kills Rohit Sharma And MI Supporter Friend In A Drunken Argument Over Who Is Better

This argument of who is better- Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma- proved fatal for P Vignesh, 24, of Tamil Nadu, after he was killed by his friend S Dharmaraj, 21, in a drunken argument. The deceased identified as P Vignesh and the accused S Dharmaraj, both hail from Poyyur village in Ariyalur district.

According to the Keelapalur police, Vignesh, a Rohit Sharma fan, and Dharmaraj, a Virat Kohli supporter, were drinking and discussing IPL cricket near SIDCO Industrial Estate, near Mallur, on Tuesday night.

It seems the argument turned deadly as Vignesh mocked RCB and Virat Kohli and made some personal comments on Dharmaraj as well, which led to Dharmaraj hitting him with the bottle and fatally striking him on the head with a cricket bat.

“Both had consumed liquor. As per the initial investigation, Vignesh was supporting Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League (IPL) while Dharmaraj was a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) supporter. During the course of their debate, Vignesh had allegedly mocked RCB and Virat Kohli. Vignesh had the habit of body shaming Dharmaraj, who was a stammerer. On that day he had made some remarks comparing the RCB team to the speaking difficulty of Dharmaraj. This infuriated Dharmaraj who attacked Vignesh with a bottle and later hit him with a cricket bat on the head. Dharmaraj soon fled the spot,” police said as per India Express report.

The local laborers who worked in the nearby SIDCO factories discovered the body of Vignesh and alerted the police. The police sent the body for postmortem and nabbed Dharmaraj as well.
