Virat Kohli might be the best batsman amongst the fab four of the current era; however, he does have plenty to achieve as captain. Not only as the Indian captain, but Virat Kohli is also yet to usher his IPL franchise to a championship. Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha conceded that Kohli would be keen to plug those holes now.

Virat Kohli has been serving as the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore since 2013 and has carried the team only once to playoffs. The current season could be the one where the 31-year old finally leads the team to the title. As far as winning an ICC title goes, it eluded them twice under Kohli – once the 2017 Champions Trophy and 2019 World Cup.

Pragyan Ojha hailed Virat Kohli as a modern-day great and iterated the examples of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Usain Bolt. They want to win everything they look at. Ojha remarked that Kohli might be having the same mindset, the desire to win an ICC trophy, World Cups, and IPL.

Virat Kohli is the modern great. For modern greats, you look at Messi, you look at Ronaldo, you look at Usain Bolt, they have their own race. They want to win everything. When they are going in their path, they want to win everything that they look at. That’s how Virat must be thinking. ‘As a batsman, I have done so much. As a captain, now, I have to win World Cups, ICC tournaments, win Test matches’. This is what his mind will be telling him. IPL, ‘I will do this’,” Ojha told Sports Today.

The 34-year old remains confident that when it’s time for bigger games, Virat Kohli always delivers. He underlined that teams need to get their basics right, preventing them from making as less mistakes as possible. The Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the Delhi Capitals on Monday in a bid to qualify for the playoffs.

I am sure he (Kohli) will be charged up. His record tells us that when it comes to the bigger games, this man has delivered. So that’s why we all are talking about them. It again comes to down basics. The team that makes lesser mistakes. Teams have to keep it simple,” he added.
