The skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team Virat Kohli is the only Indian player to find a place in the list of Top 5 Cricketers Of The Decade announced by Wisden. Alongside Virat Kohli, two players from South Africa, one male and female cricketer from Australia have found a place in the chart.

The two cricketers from South Africa are Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers. Both the players left their mark on the field with their exquisite performances, across the formats in this decade. Dale Steyn turned from a rookie fast bowler to a modern great while AB de Villiers garnered a massive name for his on-field heroics.

The right-handed batsman of Australia Steve Smith finds a place in the glorious chart alongside the leading lady of Australia Women Cricket Team Ellyse Perry. The rise of Steve Smith can be a perfect script for a blockbuster movie, as he ruled the ICC Rankings Chart of Batsman for a while, despite starting his career as a leg-spinner.

Virat Kohli operated under immense pressure – Wisden

Wisden showered words of praise of Virat Kohli for his incredible rise in the game of cricket in the last decade. They stated that Virat Kohli had constant pressure on his shoulders to perform in the absence of Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni, who wasn’t at his best with the bat for the team. They also highlighted his remarkable stats as well.

“His genius has been rising, time and again, to the challenge. Between the end of the England tour in 2014 and the second Test against Bangladesh at Kolkata in November, Kohli averaged 63, with 21 centuries and 13 fifties,” said Wisden about Kohli. It left him with a unique set of statistics – the only batsman to average at least 50 in all three international formats,” Wisden said about Virat Kohli.

”Even Steve Smith was moved to remark recently that there is no one quite like him. In many ways, there isn’t. Since the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar and the gradual waning of MS Dhoni, no cricketer in the world has operated under such daily pressure as Kohli,” it added.

Other than the four men, Ellyse Perry is the only female cricketer to find a spot in the list. She has grown from strength to strength to become a star all-rounder in the Women Cricket, across the formats. She became one of the most-followed women cricketers in the world for her on-field heroics with the bat and the ball.
