Indian skipper Virat Kohli is highly likely to achieve yet another accolade in his ODI career as he is just 312 runs short of Rahul Dravid on the list of most runs for India.

Presently, Kohli sits fourth on the list with 10577 runs in ODIs while Dravid scored 10889 runs in his ODI career.

There are still four ODIs left in the ongoing series against Australia and Kohli can easily go past Dravid if he scores heavily in rest of the matches.

If he does so, then Kohli will take yet another step in breaking more records.

Last year, he had completed 10,000 runs in ODI cricket and was the quickest one to do so, taking 54 innings less than Sachin Tendulkar who held the previous record. He took 259 innings to score 10,000 runs in ODIs.

If Kohli misses out on scoring required runs in the series, he will surely achieve the record during World Cup 2019.

The list of most runs in ODIs is topped by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 18426 runs in 463 ODIs that he played.

Kumar Sangakkara, with 14234 runs, follows the Master Blaster while Ricky Ponting sits third on the list with 13704 runs.

In terms of Indian players, Sourav Ganguly sits after Tendulkar – ahead of Dravid – with 11363 runs in ODIs.

The 30-year-old batsman made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2008. He did get drop early in his career but after World Cup 2011 his stocks went up and Kohli became one of the best batsmen, courtesy his run-scoring abilities.

Apart from performing with the bat, Kohli also took the leadership role and became captain of India in limited-overs format on a permanent basis in 2017.

Should he continue to bat like the same way, he can possibly overtake Tendulkar on the list of most runs in the history of ODI cricket.

Meanwhile, in the 1st ODI of the series, Kohli (44) did bat well but was dismissed at a crucial juncture, leaving India two own for 80.

India though won the match but it could have ended much earlier had he stayed on the crease for long.

He is undoubtedly the best finisher in ODIs in world cricket and can end his career as the best batsman when he retires.
