Former India international cricketer Gundappa Vishwanath admits that owing to such a remarkable performance Virat Kohli has a moment to work on and break Sachin Tendulkar’s astonishing record of hundred tons in international cricket.
Meanwhile, Kohli scored three hundred as India scripted history in the Rainbow Nation. Further, he broke a plethora of records in the recently concluded six-match One-day International series.
Also, he became the first batsman ever to score 500 runs in a bilateral ODI series.

Virat ‘Run Machine’ Kohli:
Vishwanath feels Kohli’s consistency and the hunger to score runs can help him break Sachin’s record. However, he further added that it’s still a long way to go.
“Kohli has shown consistency, performance and is getting hundreds regularly, he has got every chance to break that record, but it’s a tall order,” Viswanath said. “Records are eventually meant to be broken. I am happy for that and I think even Sachin will be happy. But it is still a long way to go,” Vishwanath added.
Also, Kohli reached his 35th ODI ton which takes him 14 short of Sachin’s 49.

Virat Kohli India’s ‘finest’ captain:
Although he prefers to stay away from comparisons, however, he feels statistics are in Kohli’s favor to become India’s finest captain.
“I do not wish to compare but certainly, the result is showing what Virat is doing. They beat most of the teams in India in recent times and in South Africa they came very close to beating them, especially in the first Test,” Vishwanath stated.
“They came back and won the third Test. I have confidence on this team that they will do well against other teams in their own countries,” the 61-year-old added.

Healthy competition between spinners:
Vishawanth further lauded India’s bowling attack. Further, he added that Indians at times used the conditions better than South African bowlers.
However, with Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal bagging 33 wickets together, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’s chances of coming back has reduced.
“There is very healthy competition because Ashwin has done tremendously well and Jadeja, too, in Test matches. So, you can’t rule them out. But, at the same time, there is one spinner who has taken more than 30 wickets, which is brilliant,” Vishwanath mentioned.
“Wrist spinners are bowling well, you have to pick their line and length. “Wrist spinners always come in handy because they can get turn on any wicket. Kuldeep is showing amazing consistency, I don’t think they picked up his wrong un’s,” Vishwantha concluded.
