Virat Kohli To Skip T20I Series Against Bangladesh

The skipper of the Indian National Cricket Team Virat Kohli is playing the game for India across the format from last January without a break. Considering the same, the Board of Control for Cricket in India likely to give rest to Virat Kohli. The board wants to look out the workload of certain players to stay keep them stay away from injuries ahead of key matches.

Virat Kohli has been playing almost non-stop, featuring in 48 of India’s 56 games since October last year. The squad for the Bangladesh series will be picked in Mumbai on October 24.

The Indian skipper was the part of Australia series and the India Premier League. It was followed by the ICC World Cup 2019 and later played all the formats in West Indies. Now, in the home series, he played T20I and Test formats as well. As it has been a non-stop cricket, the BCCI would like to rest him for Bangladesh series.

However, in all likelihood, the flamboyant batsman will make a return for the Test series. It will be the first Test series for Bangladesh, which falls under the ICC World Test Championship. Recently, Virat Kohli has suggested that he doesn’t want to take any home game in world championship lightly.

“Yes, he will be skipping the T20 series as he has been playing non-stop and needs a break considering that he has been part of the Australia series, the IPL, the World Cup, the tour of West Indies and now the series against South Africa,” the source said as per IANS.

”Managing the workload of the players, especially those playing all formats, is something that is a priority with this team to ensure that the players are fresh and on the top of their game at all times. He will return for Test series,” source added.

After completing the ongoing third Test match between India and South Africa in Ranchi, India’s next international assignment will be the home series against Bangladesh. India are scheduled to host Bangladesh for three T20Is and two Test matches next month. For the first time, Bangladesh is touring India to play two formats in the same tour.
