Rohit Sharma prasied Kohli

Heaping praised his teammate Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma has said the India skipper is the most consistent player in the world at the moment and stated the 29-year old always keeps the team ahead of him.

Kohli has been turning heads with his remarkable consistency since the early years of his career and is considered by many as the best batsman in the world at the moment. The only player in the world to have 50-plus averages in all the three formats at the moment, Kohli has already become the second leading centurion in One-Day Internationals, leaving behind the likes of Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya and Sourav Ganguly. In the last one and a half-year, the right-handed batsman has scored as many as six double centuries with the last two of them coming in the recent Test series against Sri Lanka. His ranking pretty much tells the story of how consistent he is. The India skipper ranks number one in ODIs, number two in Tests and recently dropped from number one to three in T20Is as he did not play in the series against Sri Lanka.

“His performance has been tremendous since he made his debut. He is the most consistent player in world cricket right now. His work ethic, his discipline is what makes him the way he is. He also works on that aspect of his game,” Rohit told India Today.

Rohit further said that despite taking his game to another level, Kohli strives to become better every time he plays.

“He has taken his game to another level and he consistently wants to improve his game. It is not that he is sitting on his laurels. He wants to improve as a cricketer every time he steps on to the field,” said Rohit who recently led India to win over Sri Lanka in ODIs and T20Is in absence of Kohli.

“As a captain he has been brilliant. Tactically he has been brilliant and the bowling changes he does. He thinks about the game a lot. He is not afraid to take bold decisions on the field and the team completely backs him. MS (Dhoni) is there to help him as well in the shortest formats,” he added.
