Virat Kohli's Mentor Wishes a Hard Punishment for Pitch Fixing Culprits

India captain Virat Kohli’s mentor and childhood coach, Raj Kumar Sharma has said ICC should punish the pitch fixing culprits. The previous year Test match between India and Sri Lanka which was played at Galle is reported to be fixed.

The allegations are put on the match to be fixed by TV Channel Al Jazeera. A report has stated that a match-fixer, Robin Morris had bribed the Galle groundsman to alter the condition of the pitch.

Furthermore, the ICC has also launched their investigation into the process.

It is not good for the game.

Raj Kumar Sharma told ANI that such instances are disappointing,

“It’s a big regret. It’s good that ICC has started looking into the matter. I think they will come out with the actual picture. If it has happened, then it’s very sad.”

Virat Kohli‘s childhood coach further added it is disheartening to note this. Raj Kumar Sharma said the culprits should be punished by the governing body.

“It’s really disheartening to see all this. Cricket is a gentlemen game. Such things should not happen. People who play at the international level are role models for the younger generation. They should not do all this. The culprits should be punished,” he added.

The match under question is the Test match between India and Sri Lanka. It was played from July 26-29. India had gone on to win that match by 304 runs.

Furthermore, three England players and two Australian players are also reported to be approached by bookies. In fact, the Aussie players have not reacted to the allegations, whereas, English players have denied any such news.

The game’s authenticity has come under threat after these corruption charges. The fixing incidents hamper the gentleman’s game which can damage the beautiful sport.
