Former India opener Virender Sehwag has reacted hilariously to the ban of crackers in several states and Union Territories including Delhi. Earlier this week, the Delhi government imposed a blanket ban on firecrackers, including those branded green, between November 7 and 30 in order to fight the air pollution as well as the steep rise in the number of Covid-19 infections.

Along with Delhi, Rajasthan, Odisha, Sikkim and West Bengal have also banned the use of crackers keeping in mind the pandemic while few other states have asked the citizens to act responsibly. The decision, however, has met with mixed reactions from the people.

While one section has praised the government for the bold move, the other section has criticised the authorities for taking the shine out of one of India’s biggest festivals. And it looks like Virender Sehwag falls in the second category. The batting legend, on Saturday, posted a hilarious message on the entire scenario.

The Twitter king took to the social media website to post a meme, taking a shot at the government’s decision. The caption on the picture was a sly dig at the government and read: “Humein poochna tha Diwali mein diya jala sakte hain na? (We wanted to ask whether we can light Diyas on Diwali)”

Virender Sehwag posted the picture with his own hilarious caption, writing: “Himalaya ki baraf na pighal jaaye (which roughly translates to Himalaya’s snow might melt).”
