Vivian Richards Reveals his Favourite Batsman, Prefers Tendulkar Over Lara

The former legendary West Indies batsman Sir Vivian Richards has revealed his favourite batsman of the modern game. Richards who had revolutionized the game with his blistering approach also picked Sachin Tendulkar over his countryman player Brian Lara.

Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, England Test captain Joe Root, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and former Australian captain Steve Smith are the best batsman in the game. However, Vivian Richards selected Virat Kohli as his favourite modern day batsman.

Richards was instrumental in revolutionizing the game.

“I think he (Kohli) would be the one who would be the most successful,” the 66-year-old said while talking to ESPNCricinfo while answering 25 questions for the website.

In fact, the former great said that he will pick Virat Kohli in his team if he is the skipper of the side.

“Certainly Virat Kohli. Because I love his tenaciousness, I love his competitiveness. Certainly, anyone would want to have him. The way he bats. Anyone would want to have him in their team,” said the Antigua batsman.

Virat Kohli is the most consistent batsman and his records speak for himself. Kohli is the number one batsman in ICC Test rankings as well as ICC ODI rankings and he has been instrumental in the success of the team.

Meanwhile, Vivian Richards also revealed the toughest bowler he faced during his career and who gave him sleepless nights. Richards said that former Australian legendary fast bowler Dennis Lillee used to trouble him in his playing days. In fact, it was always a fascinating battle when Dennis Lillee bowled to Vivian Richards.

Furthermore, Vivian Richards picked Sachin Tendulkar over Brian Lara. Both Sachin and Lara holds some top records in the game and both were nightmares to bowl to when they were in their prime.
