Who would have expected that Washington Sundar would feature for Tamil Nadu in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 when he featured for the Indian National Cricket Team in the series decider against Bangladesh. After completing the series victory late night at 12:00, Washinton Sundar made his way to enter Tamil Nadu team for the game against Uttar Pradesh.
Washington Sundar did well for India against Bangladesh:
The all-rounder has delivered goods whenever it required for the team. In the first T20I at Delhi, he gave the perfect finish with the bat and then delivered goods with the ball. The Chennai cricketer has been decent in the second T20I at Rajkot and also delivered goods for the team in final T20I game at Nagpur.

However, his presence for Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 hasn’t made the much of a difference, as the flamboyant cricketer failed to make an impact. He was given a couple of overs, in which, he leaked 16 runs and also failed to contribute with the bat as well.
Coming to the game, Tamil Nadu managed to post 168 runs on the board with the help of 51 and 61 from Murali Vijay and Dinesh Karthik respectively. Vijay Shankar also added 28 runs with a couple of fours and sixes. Ankit Rajpoot and Kuldeep Yadav picked up a couple of wickets each.
Chasing the tally, Uttar Pradesh got a decent start with 42 runs for the first wicket. It was followed by the 70-run knock of the wicket-keeper Upendra Yadav, which helped the team to seal the game. Shubham Chaubey was the other top performer for Uttar Pradesh.

Washington Sundar has risen the ranks, from the age-group level to the Under-19 level and from Tamil Nadu to Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS). Following his impressive show for Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League, Sundar received the call-up to represent India.
More than the wickets, it was his ability to contain that caught the eyes of the observer. Having been unsold in the 2017 auctions, Sundar went for a whopping 3.2 crore rupees in the 2018 players bid.
