Former Pakistan legendary fast bowler, Wasim Akram has a piece of advice for Mohammad Amir.
Akram had asked Amir to bowl closer to the stumps. However, when Amir was not able to execute Akram’s advice on the field, it left the former Pakistan skipper a bit disappointed.
Amir scalped only two wickets in the second Test match against England. Thus, he failed to create an impact with the ball. However, Akram had asked Amir to attack the stumps when the ball isn’t doing much in the middle overs.
Amir needs to add more control to his armoury.
“I have asked him to bowl closer to the stumps but he has his mind set where he has to land”.
Meanwhile, England’s debutant southpaw bowler Sam Curran stuck to the basics and bowled in proximity to the three sticks.
Akram added the youngster was able to reap the fruits after he attacked the stumps.
“I think he should try to bowl closer to the stumps when it is not swinging. I would be quite difficult. Sam Curran is a good example. He was bowling closer to the stumps. So Amir just needs to come at least four to five inches closer to the stumps,” Akram went on to add.
Mohammad Amir was not able to deliver the goods in the second Test. However, it was Pakistan’s batting that didn’t come good in the first innings of the first Test.
The tourists were skittled out for a paltry 174, and thus they found themselves on the ropes.
Subsequently, England was able to take a healthy first innings lead. Hence, the hosts won by an innings and 55 runs to draw the two-Test match series.
Mohammad Amir is one of Pakistan’s best bowler. Meanwhile, Akram believes the talismanic fast bowler has still got some areas to work on. Amir will like to keep improving his game in the coming years.
