And, so it finally returned. After 117 days of hiatus, Test match cricket is finally back on our lives with hosts England squaring off against the West Indies on a wet Wednesday in Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

After such a long break, fans from around the world had to wait for two more hours before they could finally witness live Test match cricket.

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and on a wet day, decided to bat first.

The English opening pair of Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley had quite a task on their hands against a potent West Indian fast bowling pair of Kemar Roach and Shanon Gabriel.

And, it was evident from the very first over itself when Kemar Roach tested Burns with his immaculate line and length. Burns would have had his heart in his mouth when West Indies opted for an LBW review on the fourth delivery of the Test match after the left-hander offered lurched forward and shouldered arms on a length delivery.

Gabriel started brilliantly, testing Sibley with a delivery that came in with the angle before straightening past the openers outside edge. Sibley tried to leave the very next delivery in the same manner but to his utter dismay, the ball lurched back in to hit the top of his off-stump. England 1/0 in 1.4 overs.

Joe Denly and Rory Burns safely negotiated the next 2.3 overs before inclement weather once again made its presence felt, forcing the groundstaff back on the field with covers.
