Mumbai Indians allrounder Krunal Pandya, on Friday, could not control his anger and ended up swearing at his teammate during the clash against Chennai Super Kings in Sharjah.
Mumbai Indians thrashed the Chennai-based outfit by ten wickets to return to winning ways and all but seal their playoff spot. The win was the seventh one in ten games for Mumbai Indians and took them to the top of the points table. CSK, on the other hand, are reeling at the bottom after suffering their 8th defeat in 11 games.
It was a lopsided contest as Mumbai thoroughly dominated the proceedings despite being without their talismanic skipper Rohit Sharma. Asked to bat first, CSK could manage only 114 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. At one stage, they were reeling at 3 for 4 and then 43 for 7.
At that stage, even the 50-run mark was looking like a distant dream before Sam Curran scored a fighting fifty to guide CSK to a respectable total. The southpaw scored 52 off 47 deliveries. For Mumbai, Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for just 18 runs off his four overs.
In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the total inside 13 overs without losing any wicket as Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock shared an unbeaten 116-run stand. Kishan scored an unbeaten 68 off 37 balls while de Kock scored 46 off 37 balls.
Krunal Pandya losing cool:
As far as the Krunal Pandya incident is concerned, it took place on the final ball of the 17th over. He lost his cool after his teammates failed to stop a Imran Tahir shot from reaching the boundary.
Tahir chopped the delivery towards the backward point region where Suryakumar Yadav dived but failed to stop the ball. Ishan Kishan chased the ball but he too failed to stop it from crossing the boundary. And soon after the ball reached the boundary, a furious Krunal Pandya was seen swearing at Suryakumar, telling him behe***od.
Here is a clip of the incident:
