Continuing his red-hot form with the bat, David Warner was once again looking set to score big against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. At a venue where not many batsmen have done well this season, Warner stamped his authority. MS Dhoni’s decision to bowl first proved right early on as in-form Jonny Bairstow failed to do well. Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh struck immediately as he removed Bairstow for a duck to end his IPL 2019 on a disappointing note.

But David Warner in the company of Manish Pandey did not allow the Super Kings to make further inroads. The Australia star went on to score his 43rd IPL fifty and was looking in no mood to slow down. However, before Warner could inflict further damage on the hosts, Dhoni affected a fine stumping to send him back. With Warner showing no signs of weakness, Dhoni introduced Harbhajan in the attack in the 14th over.

And on the third ball, Harbhajan repaid the faith of his skipper. Warner went for a wild heave and ended up getting stumped by Dhoni. While swinging the bat wildly, Warner lost his balance and his backfoot dragged outside the crease. The opportunity was enough for Dhoni as he took off the bails in a flash. Warner didn’t even wait for the umpire to refer the decision, as Dhoni walked towards the bowler convinced that he had got his man and replays confirmed it. Warner scored 57.
