A couple got engaged during the second ongoing One-day Internationa between England and India at the Lord’s in London. A spectator proposed his girlfriend when the live telecast of the match was broadcasted across the globe. The answer was affirmative as the boy and the girl exchanged the rings.
Meanwhile, commentator David Lloyd, fondly known as Bumble was also excited as the whole scene was displayed on the big screen.
Interestingly and coincidently, the decision pending was displayed on the screen as the third umpire was in action at the time of proposal. Subsequently, a decision was sent upstairs.
In fact, this is not the first time that such proposals were being made during a live match. We had also seen a similar incident in Australia recently when a boy proposed to his girlfriend near the pool.
Meanwhile, it is a must-win game for England as India is leading the series 1-0.
Earlier, Eoin Morgan won the toss and surprisingly decided to set the target for India.
Joe Root, who was out of form in the series was able to get back into some kind of a form. Thus, Root scored a fine hundred to take England to a competitive score. This was Root’s twelfth ODI hundred.
Meanwhile, England openers Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy provided a good platform as they put together an alliance of 69 runs.
However, chinaman Kuldeep Yadav was once again able to provide the breakthroughs. England’s trouble against Kuldeep continued as he scalped three wickets. Nevertheless, the mystery chinaman gave away 68 runs in his 10 over quota for his three wickets.
On the other hand, the potent, as well as in-form Indian batting line-up, will back themselves to get to the target at the Lord’s.
Here is the video of a spectator’s proposal:
