Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, MS Dhoni recently visited the Durga temple at Deori to offer his prayers after leading his side to the third Indian Premier League (IPL) title beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets.
Meanwhile, it has become a ritual for Dhoni on his return to his hometown Ranchi. During his domestic cricket days to his first call-up to the India national team, Dhoni made it a point to visit the temple.
However, the surprise visit to the temple stunned the people present there.
Dhoni’s next assignment will be the T20I series against Ireland in June. Moreover, he will also be the part of T20I and ODI series against England in July.
Captain Cool, meanwhile is spending some quality time with his family after a hectic schedule. CSK scripted a historic return to the league after two years of suspension. Under Dhoni’s leadership, CSK also became the second team after Mumbai Indians to win three titles.
The win over Hyderabad also helped Dhoni to bring an end to his barren run of seven years without an IPL trophy. After winning the title in 2010 and 2011, Dhoni lost the finals in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
He was also part of the Rising Pune Supergiant side that lost the final to Mumbai Indians in 2017. At an individual level, the wicketkeeper-batsman enjoyed his most successful season as a player.
Dhoni registered 455 runs in 16 games — the most by him in any IPL season so far. He averaged 75.83 this year and hit three fifties. The Ranchi cricketer rolled back the years and battered the bowlers all around the park, hitting 30 sixes and 24 fours in the process.
