Riding on Chamari Athapaththu’s fifty and Radha Yadav’s fine bowling display, Supernovas, on Saturday, beat Trailblazers by two runs to clinch the must-win clash. With the win, the Supernovas also booked their place in the final against the same opponents. The final is scheduled to take place on Monday.

Batting first, the Supernovas posted 146 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. Athapaththu starred with the bat, cracking a 48-ball 67 with the help of five fours and four sixes to lead the defending champion to the biggest total in the competition. The previous best score of 142/3 was also recorded by Supernovas against Velocity in 2019 in Jaipur.

After Athapaththu laid the foundation, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur provided the final flourish with a 29-ball 31, which included a six and a four. In reply, Trailblazers, who had already booked their place in the final, came up with a good show but fell short by two runs.

They started the chase on a solid note as Deandra Dottin and Smriti Mandhana took their team to 43/0 after 6 overs. The partnership was broken in the seventh over after Shakera Selman struck twice in the seventh over. She first dismissed Dottin before castling Richa Ghosh.

The equation was finally down to 56 runs from the last five overs when Deepti Sharma and Harleen Deol joined hands. The two hit a four each in the 16th over as Trailblazers moved past hundred. The two hit boundaries at regular intervals and brought down the equation to ten runs from the last six balls bowled by Radha Yadav.

But the spinner dashed Trailblazers’ hopes of sealing the win as she conceded 6 runs off the first four balls before ending Harleen Deol’s 27-run knock on the fifth ball of the over. On the final ball, she conceded just a single to power her team to a thrilling win.

Radha Yadav caught swearing:

Radha Yadav was looking pumped up throughout the game and could not keep her emotions in control when she dismissed Dayalan Hemalatha in the fifteenth over. As soon as Taniya Bhatia caught the ball, Radha was seen swearing in excitement, shouting: “Be***c**d”.
