Ravi Bishnoi has not taken long to make his mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The highly-rated youngster made his debut for Kings XI Punjab in their ongoing game against Delhi Capitals and has looked highly impressive. It took him less than three overs to claim his maiden IPL wicket as he castled dangerous Rishabh Pant.
Earlier this year, he became a household name after impressing in the ICC U19 World Cup where India ended up as runners-up.Ravi Bishnoi was India’s primary wicket-taking option in the middle overs during the tournament. Very few batsmen managed to handle him while he was on a roll as he bamboozled the opposition with his deadly googlies.
In the final against Bangladesh, he nearly took India over the line by triggering a collapse. He had taken four quick wickets to reduce Bangladesh to 65 for 4 from 50 for no loss but could not take the team over the line. The young spinner picked up an impressive 17 wickets in the tournament.
And he has started his IPL career in a similar manner. In his first over, he conceded just four while bowling against Pant and Shreyas Iyer. In his second over, he went for eight before castling Pant in his third over.
On the fifth delivery of the over, Pant hit him for a four before the youngster made a brilliant comeback by dismissing the hard-hitting batsman on the very next delivery.
Pant went for a big shot again but failed to pick up the wrong ‘un from the leg-spinner. Ravi Bishnoi got the ball to spin away which foiled Pant’s plan. The Delhi Capitals star wanted to play the slog sweep but ended up dragging the ball onto the stumps.
