Australia are on the driver’s seat in the second Test against Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval. They need only seven more wickets to pocket the series with two day’s of play still left. During the second innings of Pakistan, Steve Smith rose to brilliance this time in the field to grab a stunning catch to dismiss Azhar Ali as the home side went an inch closer to take the game home early.

Meanwhile, batting first, Australia banked on David Warner’s unbeaten triple century and 162-run knock from Marnus Labuschagne to pile 589 runs for the loss of three wickets before Tim Paine decided to declare the innings to give the bowlers enough time to pick 20 wickets. Warner remained unbeaten on 335 runs and in the way broke a plethora of records.

Steve Smith catches a stunner to dismiss Azhar Ali

While David Warner led the charge with the bat, Mitchell Starc scalped six wickets to knock off Pakistan in their first essay. Babar Azam and Yasir Shah, who brought his first Test century resisted but it was not enough to make Australia bat again. Pakistan once again struggled with the bat in their second essay, and this time it was Josh Hazlewood, who provided the first breakthrough.

Mitchell Starc soon entered the wicket-takers list; however, Steve Smith deserves the credit for grabbing a stunning catch in the slip cordon. The tall and lanky left-arm pacer bowled an outswinger leaving Pakistan skipper Azhar Ali in a dilemma. After taking Ali’s edge, the ball was travelling away from Smith, but the former Aussie skipper jumped to his right to grab a stunner with both hands.
