Watch: Virat Kohli Escapes Serious Knee Injury
The technique of intercepting the ball by sliding at speed on hip and knee is a popular fielding method in the game nowadays. But while the method is very effective to save some precious runs, there is absolutely no denying the fact that the method is extremely dangerous. And India skipper Virat Kohli must have realised the danger associated with the method when he nearly suffered a nasty knee injury while trying to intercept a ball by sliding on his knees in the ongoing first One-Day International against South Africa in Durban.
The incident occurred on the second ball of the seventh over when Hashim Amla drove one past the cover fielders. Kohli started chasing the ball as soon as it evaded him and upon reaching close to it, he tried to stop it by sliding. However, in doing so on the dampish outfield, his knee plonked in the turf. The India skipper was seen limping before going out of the field after the end of the over to take medical assistance.
