Will Be Surprised If Jaydev Unadkat Doesn't Get India Call-up: Cheteshwar Pujara

Jaydev Unadkat was earlier known as someone who enjoyed the riches of the IPL but barely justified the tag. However, having played a crucial part in Saurashtra’s maiden Ranji title, Unadkat believes fans will have a different impression of the pacer now.

Unadkat scalped a total of 67 wickets in the Ranji season at 13.23. He did fairly well with the new ball and made the old ball jag in trying conditions. The pacer bagged seven wickets against Gujarat in the semi-finals and removed an in-form Anustup Majumdar on the crucial final day’s play to lead his side to victory.
Cheteshwar Pujara heaps praise on skipper Unadkat
He was delighted on having his hand on the silverware, and the person standing next to him was none other than his teammate and India’s no.3 Cheteshwar Pujara. The India batter had a bout against illness but still consumed 237 balls in the first innings, scoring 66. His contribution clearly made an impact as the hosts went on to make 425.

Pujara was vocal about his skipper’s show with the ball. He said,
“I agree Jaydev has bowled exceptionally well throughout the season. If someone takes 67 wickets in a season, I don’t think there is anyone who can perform better in the Ranji Trophy. There has to be lot of importance to Ranji Trophy performance to get picked for the Indian team.”
Bengal fought hard but couldn’t cut down the deficit, getting bowled out for 381. Saurashtra batted 34 overs before clinching a win on the basis of first innings lead. “Jaydev was modest that he would not be thinking about the Indian call but I will be surprised if he is not picked in the Indian team,” said Pujara
