It was a historic day for the Bangladesh women’s national team led by Salma Khatun as they registered a sensational last-ball victory over Indian Eves in the final of the seventh edition of the Asia Cup.

It was all about nerves in the end. Bangladesh held their nerves and sealed a memorable victory by three wickets. Batsman Jahanara Alam who struck the winning shot saw girls were seen charging towards her on the field.

Moreover, it showed how much the victory meant for the Bangladesh girls. Following their victory, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) must surely look to increase their salaries.

The salaries which they receive are pretty humiliating. It is a big achievement in Bangladesh cricket history and the BCB should give them due credit.

After batting first India posted a below-par total of 112 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. It was only Harmanpreet Kaur, who looked in command with the willow.

The swashbuckling batswoman Harmanpreet smashed a brilliant 56 off 42 deliveries. His innings was studded with seven fours. It was a really good piece of bowling by Bangladesh which never really allowed India to press on the accelerator even during the death overs.

Rumana Ahmed and Salma Khatun was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers finishing with a couple of wickets each.

Bangladesh women needed to get off to a steady start and it was provided by opening pair Shamima Sultana and Ayasha Rahman.

Both looked in good touch and shared a 35-run partnership. However, both the wickets fell at the same score which pushed back Bangladesh.

Nigar Sultana and Rumana Ahmed chipped in with crucial knocks of 27 and 23 respectively which got Bangladesh back on track. They were cruising towards the victory target when the Indian bowlers came up with some tight bowling.

The Women in Blue took the match to the last over. However, it wasn’t enough as Bangladesh won the match while facing the final delivery. It was an impressive performance by Bangladesh and India will surely rue the missed opportunity.

Bangladesh skipper Salma Khatun who doesn’t know to speak either English or Hindi spoke in her mother tongue, Bengali in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Also Here we bring you the translation of those quotes:

“We are very happy that we have won the Asia Cup. I can’t explain in words. We had confidence after the first India match, and we had to come through today because it was the final and we are happy we came through. They had a lot to lose and we didn’t,” Salma said during the post-final presentation.

We started poorly in the tournament and we are happy to have made a comeback and won all matches. So for the upcoming matches, we will try to continue our good form,” Salma maintains.
