Your Leadership, Fighting Spirit And Legacy Will Always Be Remembered: Babar Azam To MS Dhoni

Pakistan batting star Babar Azam has joined the cricketing world in paying tribute to the legendary MS Dhoni after the former India skipper announced his retirement from international cricket. On Saturday (August 15), the wicketkeeper-batsman brought down curtains on his illustrious career.

Dhoni’s decision to retire from international cricket has ended his illustrious 16-year association with Team India. Having made his debut in 2004, he played his last game for India in the 2019 World Cup. He had scored a fighting fifty in the semifinal against New Zealand but could not take India home.

And as soon as Dhoni announced his retirement, tributes started flowing in from all the corners. Pakistan’s limited-overs skipper Babar Azam also joined the bandwagon as he paid rich tribute to the cricket legend. The right-handed batsman took to Twitter to hail Dhoni, writing:

“Congrats on such a remarkable career @msdhoni. Your leadership, fighting spirit and legacy will always be remembered in the cricket world. I wish you enough light and shine in every aspect of your life. #MSDhoni.”

MS Dhoni has retired from international cricket as one of India’s greatest-ever cricketers. During his time, Team India reached unprecedented heights and MS Dhoni played a very key role in it.

Indian cricket enjoyed one of its most successful phases when MS Dhoni was the captain of the side. Under his captaincy, Team India won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, 2011 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy in addition to winning the Asia Cup and several other tournaments and series.

Under Dhoni, India also moved to the top of the ICC Test Rankings for the first time. As ODI captain, he has won 55 percent of the 200 games he captained the team (110 wins, 74 defeats, 5 tied, 11 NR).  In T20Is, MS Dhoni has a 58.33 win percentage  with 42 victories in 72 games as captain. With the bat, he scored over 10,000 runs in ODIs and more than 16,00 in T20Is.
