Modern cricket has seen several batsmen represent their country and do well in all formats. India and Australia are the batting powerhouse in international cricket at the moment. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Steve Smith, David Warner are ruling international cricket. The above-mentioned batsmen play all three formats for their respective national teams. The former Australian skipper Steve Smith has scored 27 centuries in a winning cause. Most of them have been scored in Test cricket for Australia. A few have been scored in ODI cricket a well. Smith is yet to hit a century in T20Is. He is an all-time great in Test cricket while a modern great in ODIs.

He has been often criticized for not having found a gear as to how to score runs in the shortest format of the game. Smith jas 38 tons across formats to date. He is the last name in the list of five batsmen with the most tons in a winning cause.

4) Joe Root- 27

The England Test skipper played one of the best ever knocks in Test cricket against India in Chennai recently. In England’s recent tour to the sub-continent, Root looked in prime touch and scored the most runs by an England batsman.

He also has an ODI game of his own while like Smith, T20 cricket is not his forte. Overall, Root has 36 international centuries with 27 of them in a winning cause. He probably has the best conversion rates among the five on the list.

The southpaw along with Smith is Australia’s best all-format batsman at the moment. He made a tremendous comeback to international cricket after he served his 12-month ban. He also went onto becoming Australia’s highest Test scorer. Overall Warner has scored 43 international centuries with 30 of them for a winning cause. He is one among the 5 batsmen who boasts a good record of scoring tons for winning cause.

2) Rohit Sharma- 32

The last two players on the list are Indians. Rohit Sharma is placed second on the list of 5 players who have scored the most international centuries in a winning cause. He became a Test regular during the World Test Championship and was India’s top scorer in the campaign.

Out of his 40 international centuries out of which seven are in Test cricket, Rohit has scored 32 of them in a winning cause. He certainly boasts of having the best conversion rate of the lot.

1) Virat Kohli- 48

Chasemaster Virat Kohli heads this list of 5 batsmen with the most tons in a winning cause. Though he has not scored an international century since September 2019, before that he used to hit centuries for fun.

The Indian skipper is third on the list of most international centuries after Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting. Overall, he has scored 70 international centuries with 48 of them in a winning cause. Over 50 percent of those tons have come in chases.
