Chennai Super Kings have been the second most successful IPL franchise in the history of the tournament. They have won four IPL titles, the latest of which was in 2021. They beat Kolkata Knight Riders in the final Dubai to be crowned champions.
Over the years, a large number of players have played for CSK. Some of them have been popular players across the globe, while others have been not so popular. However, being a part of the CSK dressing room is every cricket’s dream and they lived their dream.

Akila Dananjaya
The Sri Lankan mystery spinner is fondly remembered for his breakout series against India in 2018 that fetched him an IPL contract with Mumbai Indians that year. He played just one game for Mumbai that year and gave 47 runs off his four overs. Not many perhaps know that he was signed by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2013 IPL season when he was ageing just 19. However, as it turned out, he did not get to play even a single game for the franchise.

Hemang Badani
The former Indian cricketer Hemang Badani was a part of the CSK outfit in 2010. However, he did not get to play a game. Playing for Tamil Nadu in first-class cricket, he scored 6,700 runs and remained as one of the top scorers for the state in the tournament. He retired from the game in 2013 due to limited opportunities in domestic cricket.
Dirk Nannes
Nannes has played for Australia and The Netherlands in his international career. In the IPL as well he played for a couple of teams and one of them was CSK. He played for the franchise between 2009-2013. In 13 matches, he scalped 15 wickets at an impressive average of 24.8 and an acceptable economy rate of 7.51.
Ben Laughlin
In 2013, Laughlin made his first appearance in the Indian Premier League. He played in 2 games for CSK and took only one wicket with a dreadful economy rate of 10.24.
His best season in the IPL was in 2018 when he picked up nine wickets for seven games. Apart from 2013 and 2018, Laughlin was never featured in any other IPL season.
Thisara Perera
The hard-hitting Sri Lanka all-rounder played for a few IPL teams and one of them was Chennai Super Kings. He only played one game for CSK in the 2010 season conceding 19 runs from just one over against KXIP. Thereafter, he was dropped from the playing XI. Perera played for KXIP, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rising Pune Supergiants as well in his IPL career.
