Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the two sides that do not have any English cricketer in their ranks. The other team is Mumbai Indians. This season they made a tremendous start to their season winning their first four games on the bounce. They won five out of their first seven games one of them was a 1-run win against Delhi Capitals. They will look to continue the momentum when the season resumes in the UAE.

They have all their players available which is a great respite for the side with several players backing out from the UAE leg. We get down to choosing the strongest RCB playing XI for the remainder of the season.

Virat Kohli

The RCB skipper Virat Kohli will continue to open the batting alongside Devdutt Padikkal. He scored 198 runs from seven games in the first half of the season. This included a 72 against Rajasthan Royals in the same match that Padikkal scored his maiden IPL ton. Kohli looks focused to help his team win their maiden IPL title this season.

Padikkal continued on his merry way from where he left off in the IPL 2020 season. He has grown into a mature player ever since his first stint in the IPL. He scored a classy ton against the Royals and is now close to booking his maiden India cap in the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell was brilliant but for Bangalore in the IPL 2021 auctions. He scored 223 runs in the first seven games and has provided the much-needed impetus to the RCB innings in the middle-overs. With Kohli above him and De Villiers below him, he has played with a freedom which has been a marked improvement of his game.

AB De Villiers

The former South African skipper AB De Villiers will slot in at number four. Over the years, he has been the best number four in the IPL. He has scored for Royal Challengers Bangalore with tremendous consistency. Along with Kohli, it is also ABD’s long-cherished dream to win an IPL title for Royal Challengers Bangalore. They made it to the playoffs, the last time the tournament was played here.

Jamieson was roped in for a mammoth 15 crores by the franchise in IPL 2021. However, he had diminishing returns with the bat in the first half of the season. He took nine wickets in seven games and scored just 59 with the bat. He will be one of the key players for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Hee will have a face-off against Kohli, his RCB skipper in the upcoming World Test Championship final.

Washington Sundar

Sundar slots in at number seven and will partner Yuzvendra Chahal with the ball as the second sinning option. He played six games for Royal Challengers Bangalore picking up three wickets. He was not used much to the bat. Sundar has made himself a permanent feature in the RCB playing XI.

Mohammed Siraj

Siraj is the first-choice pacer in the line-up for RCB. He has developed into a mature bowler due to his stit with RCB. He was one of the matchwinners in Australia and is expected to be in the playing lineup for the WTC final as well. He has well and truly won over Virat Kohli’s faith. He swung the ball in IPL 2020 in the UAE and is expected to do the same as the season returns to the UAE.

Harshal Patel

Patel is the leading wicket-taker in the IPL 2021 at the moment. He has taken 17 wickets in just seven games for the side including a fifer against Mumbai Indians. He will return to leading the pace attack. His change-ups and slower deliveries are his strength and he will look to exploit the slow and low conditions of the UAE wickets.

Azam Zampa

Zampa missed the first leg of IPL 2021 due to his marriage. However, he should be back in the Royal Challengers Bangalore playing XI in the UAE conditions. Bigger boundaries will make the opposition hit him against the spin which might result in wickets for the spinner. Good bowling will bring him success in the UAE.

Yuzvendra Chahal

RCB’s leading wicket-taker will be one of Virat Kohli’s most trusted players to get him wickets. He took 21 wickets last season in the UAE and would look to replicate his performance. He has been with RCB since 2014 and has become the leading wicket-taker in the franchise in seven seasons.

Navdeep Saini

The inclusion of Navdeep Saini ensures that the bowling attack has a decent pace and a good mix of spin options. This playing XI of Royal Challengers Bangalore looks the best among the available options and one that might challenge other oppositions.
