The mega auction for IPL 2022 is finally confirmed by BCCI recently and two teams are likely to be added to the tournament as well which is good signs moving forward. The ten-team tournament will open up a lot more opportunities to the youngsters and would increase the duration of the tournament as well.

BCCI has also changed the number of players who can be retained by the franchise from three to four. Out of the four players, the combination could be either three Indian players and one overseas or two domestic players and two overseas players. With an eye on that, here is the team-wise list of players who might be retained.

Delhi Capitals:

Shreyas Iyer has taken the Delhi franchise to greater heights already through his captaincy and batting and was so close to winning their maiden title for the franchise last year after losing it in the finals. He is an important part of the Delhi setup and is likely to continue as the skipper of the side for the next decade or so.

Rishabh Pant:

Rishabh Pant has been in fine form in the last six months including the IPL 2021 where he led the Delhi franchise in absence of Shreyas Iyer and did really well to finish as the table-toppers until the tournament was suspended. He is an all-format player for India at present and will certainly be retained by the franchise.

Prithvi Shaw:

Prithvi Shaw was in scintillating form this season for the Delhi Capitals and finished as the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL 2021. His six fours in the first over against KKR was a testimony of his potential and he will be a player for the Indian future already. His aggressive approach has been a great threat to the opposition in IPL.

Kagiso Rabada:

Kagiso Rabada will be the only overseas player to be retained by the franchise and he has been their highest wicket-taker in the last two seasons of IPL. Rabada won the purple cap last year and he is one of the best fast bowlers in the world at the moment in all formats. He is a certainty to be retained by the franchise.

Sanju Samson is the current captain of the Rajasthan Royals franchise and his ability to play those match-winning innings will always keep his value going up. He is with the Indian limited-overs squad for Sri Lanka and is set to contribute a lot for the Indian team as well as for his franchise side.

Kartik Tyagi should be the next Indian player that the Royals retain as he has shown that he has the goods to deliver and has already shown his potential in the U-19 Worldcup for India.
