Aakash Chopra Snubs Pat Cummins And Mitchell Starc As He Names Players Who Will Take Australia To The Top 4 Of ICC World Cup 2023
India and England are the favorites to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 according to many experts, both sides look strong with India having the home advantage and England coming as the defending champions.
However, Aakash Chopra has picked Australia as the most dangerous side in the World Cup. Aakash Chopra believes that if Australia reaches the top four in this World Cup they can be extremely dangerous and might even win the title.
Australia is the most successful side in ICC Cricket World Cup history having won the World Cup five times in 1987,1999,2003,2007 and 2015 respectively.
Australia have always performed well in big stages and this time it will be nothing different according to Aakash Chopra. Even though the Australian side recently lost to South Africa and India in ODIs, Aakash Chopra believes that if they reach the knockouts, they can be extremely dangerous.
“Australia are one of the favorites to reach the final four. Irrespective of the conditions, I feel Steve Smith, David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, and Glenn Maxwell will combine to take the Aussies to the final four. If this side in yellow reaches the final four, they will be extremely dangerous in the knockouts,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
Aakash Chopra Outlines Australia’s Wicketkeeper Issue
Aakash Chopra talked about Australia’s Wicketkeeper issue as the side is yet to finalize their choice between Josh Inglis and Alex Carey. Chopra believes that only one of the two will have a place in the playing XI and Australia should finalize their keeper-batter quickly. He also talked about the spin problem that the Aussies may encounter in the World Cup
“They have not finalized their keeper. Both Josh Inglis and Alex Carey are good players, but who will play in the XI? There will be a place for only one of the two. Maxwell claimed four wickets, but Australia needs him more with the bat. This is one area which is still a bit of a concern. Spin is a potential problem that they might encounter,” he elaborated.
Australia will kick off their World Cup campaign on 8th October against the host nation India and they will look forward to settling the scores after suffering a defeat in the recently concluded IND vs. AUS ODI Series. Australia were defeated last time when they faced India in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
