Harbhajan Singh Reveals India's 'Ace Of Spades' For The World Cup 2023

The ICC Cricket World Cup is set to begin on 5th October and it looks like this time India is going for the glory. All the pieces started to fall into the right place for India during the Asia Cup 2023.

The return of the likes of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah have boosted the team’s morale and it can be seen in their performance. In the ongoing IND Vs AUS ODI Series, the Indian team has shown a lot of character even without their key players which is a huge plus point regarding the over-dependency that has been there on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for quite a few years now.

One of the talking points in this ODI Series has been Suryakumar Yadav who has scored consecutive half-centuries in the series and has shown that he can bat with the same flow in ODIs as he does in T20s. Suryakumar Yadav scored a quickfire 72 off just 37 deliveries in the second ODI helping the team to reach a towering total of 399. In the first ODI, he scored 50 off 49 deliveries, and to the opposite of his nature he refrained from playing the sweep shot.

“Surykaumar Yadav has to play all the matches. I don’t care whom he replaces, but his name should be taken first and then the rest. You have a player who is a pure match-winner and can single-handedly make the game one-sided. He is the ace of spades. We have been talking about a finisher…he is the one. He has to play at No. 5 for India,” he said.

However, Ishan Kishan has shown consistency and now even Shreyas Iyer is back in form so Suryakumar Yadav might miss a spot in the playing XI during the World Cup but he can be tried in one or two matches. After all, he is an extremely explosive batter and can single-handedly change the course of the game in the span of just a few overs.
