England all-rounder Liam Livingstone will be playing his very first World Cup. He was a part of the T20 World Cup 2022 winning squad for England but did not play the 2019 ODI World Cup at home.

Liam Livingstone is all set to bank on his IPL experience to prove his expertise with bat and ball in the World Cup 2023. With England batting deep, he is expected to bat anywhere between 6-8 in the batting lineup.

Livingstone also enjoyed a good one-day series against New Zealand, with his unbeaten 95 in 78 balls helping England recover from 55 for 5 to win the second ODI in Southampton.

In an exclusive interview with I’s Chris Stocks, the England all-rounder opened up on New Zealanders and his team’s chances of retaining the World Cup.

Speaking about New Zealand, he said that they have been an incredible team for a long period of time.

“I certainly wouldn’t see them as dark horses. They’ve been an incredible international team for a while now. They’ve obviously got some world-class players who compete incredibly well in major tournaments. It’s going to be an incredible opening game – a rerun of the 2019 final, which is a cool one for us” said Livingstone while speaking to Inews.co.uk.

We Certainly Believe In Our Ability: Liam Livingstone

When asked whether England are second-favorites to win the tournament after India, Liam Livingstone denied naming any favorites but said that his side has all the ingredients succeed.

“Thankfully it’s not my job to pick out the favourites,” says Livingstone. “But we certainly believe in our own ability. Put it this way, I’d much rather be in the English dressing-room than any other one around the world at the moment. The boys are excited, we’ve got a lot of talent, a lot of experience and most of all we have a lot of fun playing together,” said the England all-rounder.

England begin their World Cup campaign against New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5. Ahead of that, they play two warm-up games with the first against India on Saturday, September 30. Unfortunately, the match was abandoned due to continuous rain in Guwahati.
