Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was picked in India’s World Cup squad after Axar Patel picked up a quadricep injury. The selectors added the experienced off-spinner after the left-arm spinner was ruled out for almost three to four weeks due to his untimely injury.
Former cricket experts have had a divided opinion on Ravichandran Ashwin’s return to the Indian World Cup squad. While some support his return, a few others do not. Many wanted Yuzvendra Chahal back in the Indian squad instead of Ashwin.
Meanwhile, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, the former Indian spinner made a few staunch remarks in a series of tweets pointing towards Ashwin’s inclusion in the World Cup squad.
A fan’s question about Indian players playing spin in the World Cup brought out one of the harshest responses from the former Indian spinner.
He questioned Ashwin’s stats as a spinner in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia on Saturday, September 30.
“Maybe since india struggling against Spin, especially the King .good we have picked Ashwin who is handy Bat if wicket falls . Pitches will be flatish with no Spin,” the fan wrote.

“Indian batsman are struggling against spin because the pitches in India are doctored for Ashwin in Test matches. Look at his record in SENA Countries,” tweeted the former Indian spinner and followed it up by calling Ashwin a ‘liability fielder’ and ‘most unfit cricketer’.
Supporters of Ravichandran Ashwin and the Indian cricket team strongly objected to those remarks from the former Indian spinner.
One Twitter user wrote “Such filth doesn’t even deserve a response. Ideally Ash should take him down for putting forward such baseless stupid allegations but unlike this guy he really has a job to do. Anyways don’t know why so many people turn so sour without any reason”
Not only is he a better spinner than you and many others (he has already done enough to be regarded as a great) but he would be a really good broadcaster whenever he makes that stride. Maybe we would have a spinner who’s not an earsore in calls then! https://t.co/VSjrcKwQWS

“Unreal jealousy against your country players da (brother) that. Ha (Yes), if they can doctor the pitches with green everywhere then we too can and will,” wrote another Twitter user in Ashwin’s support.
