Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli skipped the practice session on Friday ahead of India’s warm-up match against England on Saturday. The Men in Blue play two practice games ahead of the first World Cup game on October 8 against Australia.
It was an optional practice session with Ravichandran Ashwin seen sweating it out hard among all the players. He was a late entrant into the Indian World Cup Squad with Axar Patel ruled out with an injury.
Along with Ashwin, the likes of Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill practiced at the picturesque Amingaon ground, which is about 30 km from the main city. Thakur had a long batting session while Gill and Kishan had a brief session with the bat.

Kohli and Rohit have been amongst the runs in recent times and thus opted to skip the session. Meanwhile, Ashwin was seen having an intense session. Post his session he had a long chat with head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathour.
The England team, on the other hand, had to reschedule their training session post their delayed arrival in Guwahati. The Englishmen had a full practice with Joe Root, Sam Curran, and Chris Woakes batting longtime among others while Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid started bowling at the nets in tandem. With time they started to feel the heat too having to cope up with conditions completely alien to what they get in England.
Against a strong England side, India would ideally play their strongest XI as well as they look to find the right combination heading into their opening game on October 8.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, and the Netherlands are 10 teams part of the ICC World Cup 2023. The tournament starts on October 5. The ICC World Cup 2023 final will take place on November 19.
