Shubman Gill Says He Will Be Aiming To Win The World Cup This Year

Shubman Gill has revealed it has always been his dream to represent Team India in the World Cup. The youngster is a part of India’s squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023.
Shubman Gill has already played in the U19 World Cup. In 2018, he played a starring role in India’s victorious campaign at the U19 World Cup, finishing the competition as the second-highest run-scorer. The right-handed batsman is now a key member of India’s ODI team and will be looking to make a big impression in his maiden senior World Cup appearance.
A dream come true moment for Shubman Gill:
Ahead of playing in the ICC World Cup 2023, Shubman Gill has revealed that he has been dreaming of playing in the competition and lifting the trophy ever since he was a young kid. He stated that his journey in the game so far has been nothing short of a dream and expressed his desire to give his best at every stage.
“Playing the World Cup has always been (a dream), (it is) every child’s dream. It is my dream to play to represent India in the World Cup. The journey so far has nothing been short of a dream, nothing short of a fairytale,” Shubman Gill told Star Sports.
“As you keep performing, your expectations from yourself keep increasing. My expectations from myself is to give my maximum effort at every stage. When India won the World Cup in 2011, I was about 10-12. It was a very unreal scenario when India won the World Cup. I also want to lift that trophy once in my life,” he added.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill has recovered his form after struggling in West Indies. The India opener starred with the bat in the recently-concluded Asia Cup. He finished the competition as the highest run-scorer as India beat Sri Lanka in the final to win the tournament for the eighth time. Shubman Gill scored 302 runs in 6 games with the help of a century and two half-centuries.
Before the World Cup, he will be playing for Team India in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. The series is scheduled to get underway on Friday (September 22) in Mohali. The second and third games are scheduled to be played in Indore and Rajkot.
