Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers expressed his confidence in Indian batter Virat Kohli’s performance in the ICC World Cup 2023. AB de Villiers predicted that Virat Kohli will be among the three leading run scorers in the upcoming marquee tournament.
Virat Kohli has an impressive record in the ODI World Cup, scoring 1030 runs in 26 innings at an average of 46.81, with the highest score of 107 against Pakistan in 2015. He is the only Indian player to represent the team in the last three editions of the ODI World Cup.
Virat Kohli Is Going To Be A Wonderful World Cup – AB de Villiers
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers predicted that Virat Kohli will play crucial innings for Team India, especially in high-pressure situations during the World Cup.
“Virat Kohli is going to be a Wonderful World Cup. He will be one of the leading runs scorers in this World Cup and he will be definitely there in the Top 3 most runs scorer,” De Villiers said.
“Virat Kohli is going to play some very crucial Knocks in this World Cup 2023. Under pressure when team India are feeling it and crowds expectations and tough situations and then Virat Kohli is your man, he will deliver for you in under pressure,” he added.
The 34-year-old made his World Cup debut during the 2011 edition. The right-handed batter achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian player to score a century on his World Cup debut, amassing 100 runs off 83 balls against Bangladesh in Mirpur.
India To Kick Off World Campaign Against Australia
The Rohit Sharma-led team’s first warm-up game against England in Guwahati on September 30 was washed out due to persistent rain. The Men in Blue will take on the Netherlands in their next warm-up match in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, October 3.
The Indian team will kick off their World Cup campaign with a match against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8. The home team will take on their archrivals Pakistan in their third group stage match in Ahmedabad on October 14.
