T20 World Cup 2021: Anything Can Happen, The Game Can Change At Any Moment - Danish Kaneria On The Final Group 2 Matches

Former Pakistan bowler Danish Kaneria reckoned that no team should be taken lightly heading into the final group stage matches of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Kaneria mentioned that Afghanistan and Namibia shouldn’t be counted out and that they’re well capable of causing an upset.

All teams in Group 2 have played four games each, and the final set of games will be held on Sunday and Monday. New Zealand needs to defeat Afghanistan to advance from their group, while India is hoping the Afghans cause an upset before they rout Namibia on Monday.

“Afghanistan play a lot of international cricket. Several of their boys also play in the IPL. New Zealand are a very good side, but one shouldn’t take anything away from Afghanistan. But why even take Namibia lightly?”

“I don’t understand why any team should be taken lightly. They have nothing to lose. They will come out and give it their best shot. Anything can happen here. The game can change at any moment,” Kaneria stated.

“If tracks are made for spin, it will be tough for New Zealand” – Danish Kaneria

Danish Kaneria went on to point out that a spin-friendly track will be ideal for Afghanistan, whereas the Kiwis might struggle considering their weakness against the turning ball.

“Afghanistan batters struggle to perform on big grounds. They are unable to hit big shots and instead get out in the process. But if the track is made for spin, then Afghanistan will manage. But it will be tough for New Zealand,” Kaneria added.

Kane Williamson and his men take on the Afghans tomorrow in the day game in Abu Dhabi.
