Pakistan captain Babar Azam said it was a proud moment for his team after getting the better of India in their first match of the T20 World Cup in Dubai.

For the very first time in the history of World Cup matches (T20 and ODIs) between the two nations, Pakistan won against India.

This is one of the defining moments in our careers: Babar Azam

Babar Azam and his side thumped India with a 10-wicket win at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Babar said that this was a defining moment of their careers after creating the history.

It is definitely a proud moment for me as well as for all my players that we have made history,” Babar told news agency AFP.

“We realise how important and how much needed that win is as everyone wanted us to win, and to have made history is one of the defining moments in our careers,” he added.

We are very happy to break the jinx: Babar Azam

After Shaheen Afridi-led Pakistan bowlers routed the Indian batters for a modest total of 151/7 in the first innings, openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar himself steer Pakistan to an emphatic victory as they chased the target with 13 balls to spare.

Babar (68*) and Rizwan (79*) nullified the Indian bowlers after the dew came in to play during the chase.

Ahead of the high-voltage clash, Azam had mentioned that Pakistan would win and was delighted to break the jinx.

I had said before the match that records are meant to be broken, so we have broken that jinx, and we are very happy. In fact, the whole country is happy and celebrating,” Babar Azam said.
