Former Australia batsman and current Pakistan batting consultant, Matthew Hayden, stated that the pace at which Shaheen Afridi bowls is not something every batsman is used to. The 49-year-old’s comments came after Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets in Dubai.

Hayden pointed out the difference in the medium pace bowlers that Indian batters played in the IPL and Afridi’s 140 kmph+ corkers. This certainly took India’s openers by surprise, both of whom were dismissed because of failure to adapt to Afridi’s pace.

The Indian batters had been facing 130 kph deliveries for the last month during the IPL. It’s a different cup of tea when you are facing someone running and bowling at Shaheen Afridi’s pace,” Hayden said in Pak Passion.

The fantastic sporting brotherhood between both teams – Matthew Hayden

Following the match’s conclusion between the two sides, there were a lot of conversations between the Indian and Pakistan players. MS Dhoni was seen having a chat with Shoaib Malik and others while Virat Kohli wholeheartedly congratulated Mohammad Rizwan after the latter scored the winning runs.

The thing that inspired me the most out of the performance was the fantastic sporting brotherhood. That’s the role of sport, so it’s beautiful to see those moments where MS Dhoni is holding court with a few of the (Pakistan) players and Virat Kohli and (Rizwan), you know, in brotherhood, joining hands after there were heated battles in the middle,” Matthew Hayden added.

Pakistan looks like the team to beat in the tournament so far, having brushed aside both India and New Zealand without much fuss. They will be up against Afghanistan on October 29, Friday, who are equally familiar with the conditions.
