England are coming into this game on the back of a win against New Zealand in the warm-up game. Riding on Jos Buttler’s 73, England posted 163 in the first innings. New Zealand, in reply, could only manage to score 150 runs. Mark Wood was the pick of the bowlers for England, claiming 4 for 23 in 4 overs.

England vs West Indies

On the other hand, West Indies lost both their warm-up games but it isn’t going to have an effect on them too much. The Men from the Caribbean possess a substantial amount of talent and are one of the teams to beat. They are the most successful team in the history of the tournament, having won the title twice. Kieron Pollard and Co. would be eager to win their third title.

They have a strong squad at their disposal and certainly have the ability to beat any team on the given day. Ewin Lewis is likely to open with Lendl Simmons against England. The former has been in an exemplary form of late. He will certainly be the man to watch out for.

Shimron Hetmyer too has been in pretty good form, while Roston Chase will have the responsibility to anchor the innings. Nicholas Pooran and Chris Gayle’s poor form is a bit of concern for them, however, with so many match-winners in the side, they won’t be stressing too much on that.

The fast bowling duties have been given to Ravi Rampaul and Oshane Thomas etc. Besides, the medium-pace of Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell keeps the pace department in good stead. As for the spin department, Hayden Walsh will be the man to watch out for.
