ENG vs WI: West Indies (WI) Predicted Playing XI against England (ENG) – ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Match 14. Defending champions, West Indies will begin their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign against England on Saturday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Interestingly, West Indies have never lost a game against England in the T20 World Cup.

As far as the overall record is concerned, the two teams have taken on each other on 18 T20 internationals. Of those, West Indies have managed to beat them on 11 occasions. The dominant record against England should give them enough confidence to beat them once again.

Ahead of a highly anticipated event, here’s a look at the predicted playing of West Indies against England.

Openers: Evin Lewis and Lendl Simmons

Evin Lewis has been in sensational form, of late. He enjoyed a super outing in CPL 2021 and showed flashes of his power-hitting in IPL 2021 while playing for Rajasthan Royals. His recent form should keep the team in good stead.

Between Lendl Simmons and Andre Fletcher for the second opener slot, Lendl Simmons might get the nod ahead of the latter due to his experience of playing at big stages.

Middle-Order: Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran

Shimron Hetmyer’s recent form should be a big boost for the side. He could be a real destructor if gets going. Hetmyer certainly has the ability to turn things around in a short period of time.

West Indies’ biggest worry right now is the poor form of Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran. It is important that these two get back into form or West Indies might get in trouble.

All-rounders: Roston Chase, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo

In a team filled with power-hitters, Roston Chase will have the responsibility to anchor the innings. He is in supreme form with the bat and is likely to be an important part of the playing eleven.

The presence of Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo is going to add depth to the batting unit. All three can hit some really big hits and will have the responsibility to give the late flourish at the fag end of the innings.

Bowlers: Ravi Rampaul and Hayden Walsh

Ravi Rampaul is likely to lead the fast bowling department. He was brilliant in the 2021 edition of the Caribbean Premier League. Consistent performances in the tournament helped him find a place in the West Indies squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup.

It will be interesting to see if he could replicate those performances in the T20 World Cup. As for the spin, Hayden Walsh should make the cut.
