Gerhard Erasmus-led Namibia National Cricket Team faced a 9-wicket defeat against Virat Kohli-led India National Cricket Team in the last Super 12 stage game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 on Monday, November 8 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Namibia lost the toss and they were invited to bat first and they fought really well, played competitive cricket and managed to post the target of 133 runs for India with David Wiese being the top run-getter for the side with 26 runs under his belt.

Chasing the target Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul showed a batting masterclass. In the end, India won the match by chasing the target in 15.2 overs.
We Haven’t Quite Been Able To Really Soak In The Experience – Gerhard Erasmus
During the post-match presentation, Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus said that they have not been able to soak in the experience due to the fast turnaround between the T20 World Cup matches. He said:
“We haven’t quite been able to really soak in (the experience) due to the quick turnaround between games.”

Gerhard Erasmus also said that they have played some awesome levels of cricket against the top sides in the world and they will take home several positives. He asserted:
“Only once we get back home, we’ll be able to realise that we played awesome levels of cricket and were to compete against some strong teams.”
“Quite a few highlight performances individually to take home as positives, and also as a team.“
Gerhard Erasmus was hoping that the team have inspired a few people around the world with their performance. He said:
“Good positives and hopefully we can work to get better. Hopefully, we have inspired a few people with our performances to take up the sport.”
Notably, Namibia only won one match in the Super 12 stage but they earned a lot of praise from cricket pundits for playing competitive cricket.
